CUSTOMER REVIEW

review

I was really leery of this egg cooker because I saw so many negative comments. Some, on the other hand, raved over the quality of the eggs. So which was it? The problem, as I soon discovered was the quality of the directions, or lack of them. Clarity in this case can make a BIG difference as to how those eggs turn out. I pored over them and took a close look at everything. It was one of those "here goes nothing" moments and that's what I expected. Nothing. Well, I put in four eggs because I thought a little egg salad lunch would be nice and voilĂ  ... it was. I'll try to give you some directions in the form of FAQs and hints that might make your egg experience much easier.

FAQs

Q: Why do I have to put MORE water in when I am cooking fewer eggs?

A: If you think about it, think in terms of the area inside your egg cooker. If you are cooking two eggs the steam has to cover a wider area, therefore you need more water. More eggs, you need less.

Q: There are three egg symbols on my measuring cup. What are they for?

A: There are three egg symbols:

~ Soft-boiled: If you hold the cup up to the light, the egg (close to the bottom of the measuring cup) has a line 1/4 of the way up the egg.

~ Medium-cooked: If you hold the cup up to the light, the egg (between the other two eggs) has a line 1/2 the way up the egg.

~ Hard-boiled: If you hold the cup up to the light, the egg has no lines.

Q: What do those numbers mean in each section of that measuring cup?

A: There are straight lines above the egg. Beside them are numbers. These numbers indicate how many eggs you are planning on cooking. Fill the measuring cup with water up to the desired line.

Q: Should I add extra water if my eggs are larger?

A: Yes, I've tried adding an extra "line" just to make sure the eggs are done the way I'd like. Soft-boiled is not as much of a concern as hard-boiled. Adding that little extra bit of water insured that the yolk was solid.

Q: What is that "pin" underneath the cup and how should I use it?

A: When you put your eggs in the cooker (small side down), you simply use this "pin" to puncture the top of the egg so it won't explode during cooking.

Q: When do I know when my eggs are done?

A: A buzzer will alert you when they are ready.

Q: What's that little white bowl for?

A: It's just a little bonus. If you want to steam-warm a bit of soup or another item, it's very quick and easy.

I'm very pleased with this egg cooker. If you use my suggestions, after a couple of tries cooking eggs it will almost be intuitive. You can simply hold your measuring cup up to a lighting source to check your measurements. I need to have eggs for an added protein source and am loving this egg cooker. It's really quite simply to use, but awesome once you get the hang of it. Instructions that are included, admittedly, are pretty confusing and useless. Useless and annoying. Print my FAQs out and I think you'll be able to manage this egg cooker in no time.
