Vine Customer Review of Free Product (What's this?) We make waffles for dinner every 2-4 weeks and since our waffle maker died a while back we have been looking for a good inexpensive waffle maker to replace it. Originally we had settled on another brand of flip waffle maker but it was just that - something on which we settled, not an ideal. I was interested in trying the Bella waffle maker and so far it has proven to be a little better than our other waffle maker - to a point. There are some areas for improvement.

The very first thing about this waffle maker that caught my attention is that it seems to be fairly well-made. Others I have tried have been loose and had a tendency to have a little play in the flip mechanism. That is, when flipped over the others I have tried have a tendency to turn a little under their own weight and don't balance right. This particular waffle maker stays where you turn it and feels very sturdy. The temperature dial is nice and solid too and does not feel "mushy" when you turn it.

I plugged in the waffle maker and turned the temperature to maximum and timed how long it took for it to reach a ready state. It took two minutes and thirty seconds - not bad! When I opened the waffle maker after it said it was ready it was very hot and definitely was ready to go.

With oiled plates I poured on the batter, closed the lid, flipped it and waited for it to say it was ready. It took only a couple of minutes and the waffle definitely needed a lot more time. The waffle was nowhere near ready. This has been the standard with every waffle maker I have tried, though, so this is not unique to Bella. However, the time past the point at which it thought it was ready was significantly longer than with other waffler makers I have tried and represents the biggest issue I found with it.

In spite of the cooking time being wrong, waffles cooked evenly and turned out nicely browned.

Other than the cooking time being way off, this is probably one of the best home-use flip waffle makers in its price range that I have used. It does cook nicely, it's an attractive appliance and seems to be well made.
